A bill to raise the age at which Illinois drivers must take a road test is one step closer to becoming law.
The Illinois Senate Transportation Committee passed House Bill 1226 by a unanimous vote Tuesday. The measure would increase the required testing age from 79 to 87.
Ryan Gruenenfelder of AARP Illinois says the bill is a strong step in the right direction.
The measure would also allow immediate family members to report concerns about a relative’s driving ability to the state.
