Dedication held for Plaque honoring Abe Clymer in Lincoln Park

A man who was a business owner, Lincoln Presenter and ambassador for Vandalia for many decades has been honored with a plaque in Lincoln Park.

Abe Clymer was a business owner for better than 50 years in Vandalia.  And, he was the community’s Lincoln Presenter and an ambassador for the community throughout the country.  Mayor Rick Gottman spoke at the dedication of the plaque for Abe and talked about Abe’s work to bring the Lincoln Presenters to Vandalia.

Abe’s daughter, Joy Clymer, said this was certainly a special day.

Abe Clymer passed away in 2021 at the age of 90.  His plaque is on the wall at Lincoln Park–very close to the “Sitting with Lincoln” statue and just across the street from the Vandalia Statehouse.
