A former City of Vandalia Alderman addressed Mayor Gottman at what would be the Mayor’s final meeting and also talked about a potential new fundraiser for the National Road Interpretive Center.
Jerry Swarm was a City of Vandalia Alderman for a total of 22 years over two stints, and the second of those stints he was appointed to the City Council by Mayor Rick Gottman. Swarm spoke about Mayor Gottman on what would be the Mayor’s final City Council meeting this past Monday.
Swarm also spoke to the City Council about a potential new fundraiser for the National Road Interpretive Center. The event would be a “Polar Plunge” type of event–although Alderman Bob Bowen pointed out that name is actually trademarked by the Special Olympics. Swarm said the thinking was to have the event at Vandalia Lake in early January and it would work as a fundraiser for the Interpretive Center. The City Council gave their blessing for the event and City Administrator LaTisha Paslay gave a suggestion of “Winter Splash” as a possible name for the fundraiser.
