An Illinois law which mandates that students must be permitted access to bathrooms and locker rooms that aligns with their gender identity is getting national attention. Nicole Georgas filed a complaint with the Justice Department after she says her daughter was forced to change clothes in front of a transgender classmate in the girls locker or face disciplinary action. A Republican Lawmaker mentioned the incident on the House Floor, which brought this response from State Representative Bob Morgan.
Geogas says she has audio evidence of the incident and was disappointed by Morgan’s comments.
When asked why this is such a big issue if there are few instances, State Representative Blaine Wilhour said one is too many.
Georgas says U.S. Secretary of Education Linda McMahon called her and said the incident is being investigated.
