Vandalia girls wrestling senior Sophie Bowers will begin the defense of her 2024 IHSA 125lb Championship today when the 2025 IHSA Girls Individual State Finals get underway at Grossinger Motors Arena in Bloomington. The first round of the Finals begins at 9:00am and Bowers at 38-0 on the season has drawn senior Raynisha Sims (24-6) of Chicago Lakeview for her first matchup. Once Round 1 is complete, the Championship Quarterfinals and the First Round of Wrestlebacks will begin at 11:00am. Bowers would get either senior Isabella Motteler (20-4) of Peoria Richwoods or junior Lilly White (38-4) of Bartlett in her second match of the day. Day One of the Girls State Finals then concludes with Round 2 of Wrestlebacks before suspending competition until Saturday morning when the Championship Semifinals and Wrestleback Quarterfinals at 9:00am working through the remaining rounds to get to the Place Matches at 12:15pm, Grand Match at 1:45pm and the Championship Matches at 2:00pm.
