The Vandalia School District is moving ahead with several projects.
Among the projects will be the north parking lot replacement at the Vandalia Junior High School at a cost of $1,110,401 and projects at the new Athletic Facility including flooring installation for $24,000, ceiling installation for $52,700, electrical and lighting for $91,740 and fire alarm to security alarm for $15,500. Vandalia Superintendent of Schools Dr. Jennifer Garrison says they will be using their sales tax money from the 1% schools facility tax to pay for these projects.
Other projects will be to replace 2 VES chillers for $256,950, new lockers to locker and storage systems at the Junior High for $82,900, interior light replacement at the Junior High for $65,647 and replacing the lighting at Mark Greer Field for $308,974. And, Dr. Garrison says these projects are funded with the bond sale money.
Part of what is being funded by the sales tax money is part of the “Forging Our Future” project and Dr. Garrison says there was extra money from the sales tax money to help them go ahead and finish off this part of the project.
Meanwhile, the Vandalia School Board also handled several personnel issues at their meeting this past week and we’ll talk about that coming up tomorrow.
