
John Richard “Richie” Harris, 69, of Pana, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at Pana Health and Rehab in Pana, IL.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, February 28, 2025, at Ramsey Cemetery, Ramsey, IL with Pastor Travis Warner officiating. Burial will immediately follow. Friends may gather from 10:30 until the service time at 11:00 AM. Miller Funeral Home, Vandalia, IL, is in charge of arrangements. He was born October 13, 1955, in Vandalia, IL, the son of Gerald R. & Genevieve Audrey (Worker) Harris. He grew up in the Ramsey, IL and Vandalia, IL area. He later relocated to Pinckneyville, IL. He studied at Ranken Technical Institute in St. Louis, MO. Rich had various jobs working as a correctional officer, electrician, in heating & air conditioning and refrigeration work. He was a member of the Sheetmetal Workers Local #268 in Caseyville, IL, and worked installing duct work at various businesses and locations.
Rich enjoyed playing tennis, pool, socializing, dancing, racing, and going to concerts. He competed in many tennis tournaments and had quite the collection of trophies to prove he was quite athletic. He was a member of the Ramsey Baptist Church and the Moose Lodge #930 in Pinckneyville, IL. Rich had many brothers and sisters he grew up with.
He is survived by: Brothers and Sisters – Vicky Heinrich & John, Vernon, IL, Steve Wright & Marsha, Beecher City, IL, Jerri Jo Harris, Vandalia, IL, Sharron Harris, Decatur, IL, Rhonda Rhodes, Vandalia, IL, Sheila Roberts, Sacramento, CA, James Graham & Jewell, San Antonio, TX, Mary Schwarm & Tony, Sullivan, MO, Brenda Berst & Bob, Vandalia, IL, and David Graham, Lorain, OH; many nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; cousins – Randa Balcom, Danielle Balcom Misleh & Adel, Joe Crabtree & Tara, and Kenny Crabtree; Step-Mother – Sharon Harris.
Preceded in death by: Parents; Brother – Rodney “Butch” Wright; Sister – Shannon Harris; Nieces – Channing and Chasity Harris.
Richie’s sister, Jerri Harris, would like to give a special thank you to the Pana Health and Rehab staff for taking such good care of Richie the last three years and eight months. Also, for the loving support they gave her. They were amazing, compassionate people that she will truly miss.
