We hear more today from Fayette County Sheriff Ronnie Stevens on the jail’s population.
Sheriff Stevens points out that having a larger jail than you have number of inmates is a bit important because of all the different restrictions they have with their inmates.
Another concern is that the jail may at some point not be able to operate any longer as is because of the many requirements. And, Stevens says that would a very tough situation and a costly one.
As Sheriff Stevens pointed out yesterday, the jail population–after a dip at first–has returned to normal under the No Cash Bail laws in the state.
