BSE and CHBC girls basketball put on a show Monday night, battling into overtime as the Lady Bombers pulled out a 51 to 46 win over the Lady Bobcats. BSE would get out to a 17-12 lead at the end of the first quarter and pushed that lead out to 32-22 at halftime. CHBC would begin its second half comeback in the third quarter, outscoring BSE 12-3 to cut their deficit down to one point, trailing just 35-34 at the fourth quarter started. The Bobcats again outscored the Bombers, this time by a point, 10-9, as the game would end in a 44-44 tie at the end of regulation to send the game to overtime. BSE scored first on a basket by Dayana Haslett to put BSE ahead 46-44. After a timeout and then a turnover by CHBC during their first overtime possession, BSE would go to the free throw line after a CHBC foul. Haslett would knock down the ensuing two shots for a 48-44 BSE lead. CHBC would then have their turn at the line after but missed both shots and on the next possession, BSE would also miss two free throws but CHBC would foul again to put Haslett at the line. The BSE sophomore would hit both free throws again to push the BSE lead to 50-44. CHBC would have Averie Vaughn get fouled and sink two free throws to pull the Bobcats to within four points of the Bombers, 50-46. With 43.7 seconds left in the overtime period, Haslett went to the line again for BSE and hit one of two to wrap up scoring in the game as the Bombers held on for the 51-46 overtime win. BSE is 24-3 on the season and remains undefeated in NTC play at 7-0. They will be at Nokomis tonight in non-conference action. CHBC drops to 10-16 overall on the season and to 0-7 in the NTC. CHBC will also be in non-conference action tonight at Sandoval.
