The Vandals hung with Mounds Meridian all night, but came up just short in the end, falling 76 to 70 in their opening game of the Benton Invitational Tournament.
The Vandals fell behind by as many as 10 points at one point early in the second half but rallied to take a brief lead in the 3rd quarter. But, the Vandals could not hold on and fell in the quarterfinal matchup.
The Vandals are now 8-13 overall on the season and 0-1 in the BIT. They will now play in the consolation bracket of the tournament and they will next take on Sesser-Valier on Thursday at 7:30 pm.
