Government attorneys are wrapping up their case with a focus on AT&T and former state Representative Eddie Acevedo at the corruption trial of former Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan.
Judge John Robert Blakey ruled that Acevedo would be required to testify Monday, despite questions about Acevedo’s competency.
Prosecutors say AT&T made payments to Acevedo through lobbyist Tom Cullen, who testified Wednesday.
Former Madigan aide Will Cousineau talked with Madigan’s codefendant, Michael McClain, in a call recorded on May 25, 2018.
AT&T had been pushing for carrier-of-last-resort, or COLR, legislation.
Prosecutors say they expect to rest their case Tuesday.
