Fayette County Board Chairman Jacob Harris says they are looking at the possibility of reducing the cost on the project.
Harris says he thinks the proposal including a 100 prisoner jail was a little bit misunderstood.
The proposed new courthouse and jail had an original cost of just less than 47 million dollars and was proposed at 62,000 square feet. The County also has an option to purchase land for the new courthouse and that would be in a location south of Auto Zone in Vandalia.
