Former State Representative Avery Bourne has testified at the bribery and racketeering trial of former Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan and codefendant Michael McClain.
Attorneys asked Bourne about a request for an amendment to include a Chicago Chinatown lot on her land-transfer bill.
In a call recorded on May 28, 2018, McClain asked lobbyist Nancy Kimme to update the bill’s language.
On May 31st, the last day of the legislative session, Kimme updated McClain.
Bourne said she understood her bill would not be called if Madigan didn’t support it.
Bourne’s land-transfer bill later passed during the 2018 fall veto session without the Chinatown amendment.
