The Vandalia Fire Department fought a major structure fire on Tuesday.
The fire call was to a house on fire at U.S. Route 40 and Hagarstown Road. Vandalia Fire Chief Mark Meadows says they were called to the structure fire at 2 pm. Chief Meadows says the house sustained major damage in the blaze and they requested water from Mulberry Grove Fire Protection District and Greenville Fire Protection District. Chief Meadows says there were 18 firefighters that responded and they were on the scene for 4 hours.
