South Central picked up their second straight 50+ point win in as many games while Ramsey suffered a lopsided loss on the second night of the Mulberry Grove Thanksgiving Tournament on Tuesday. In the first game of the night, Ramsey struggled to score early and would be held to just two first quarter points as they trailed Father McGivney by 22 points at the end of the first quarter, 24-2, and would find themselves down 49-14 at halftime. The Rams would have their highest scoring quarter in the third but were outscored 23-16 in the period to trail 72-30 heading into the fourth quarter where they would be held scoreless as the Griffins closed out the 86-20 win. Ramsey drops to 0-2 in pool play and will be off until Friday when they wrap up pool play against Lebanon at 5:15pm.
In the second game, South Central ran out to a 24-0 lead before allowing Lebanon its first basket and led 29-2 at the end of the first quarter. Despite giving up 14 points in the second quarter, the Cougars held a 51-16 lead at the half. South Central turned up the defense again in the third quarter as a 26-4 run would push the Cougar lead to 77-20 heading into the fourth before they put the game away for the 88-31 win. South Central is now 2-0 with wins by margins of 65 and 57 points to start the season and pool play. The Cougars get Wednesday night off before returning to finish pool play on Friday night when they will square off with Father McGivney at 6:45pm.
