Vandalia City Council votes to increase water and sewer rates

The Vandalia City Council voted to increase their water and sewer rates.

The City’s year audit showed the need for an increase in water and sewer rates going forward.  The audit proposed an increase of 3.85% in water rates and 7.30% in sewer rates.  Alderman Bret Brosman, who is also head of the water and sewer committee, said that was the recommendation of the committee and made the motion.  The increase was approved by a vote of 5 to 2 with Brosman, Bob Bowen, Ken Hubler, Andy Lester and Russ Stunkel voting yes and Mike Hobler and Steve Barker voting no.  The increase would take the minimum water and sewer bill from $52.24 up to $55.15.
