(Shelbyville, IL) — A Shelbyville man is going to prison for a long time after pleading guilty to murdering his pregnant girlfriend. Deven Barger pleaded guilty Monday to charges of second-degree murder and involuntary manslaughter of a family member in connection to a July 2019 killing of Samantha Cushing. Barger was sentenced to nearly half a century in prison.
