
Wanda M. Walton, 88, of Vandalia, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2024, surrounded by her family at St. Lukes Hospital in Chesterfield, MO.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, May 31, 2024 at Fairlawn Cemetery, Vandalia, IL with Pastors Robert Weaver and Joe Lawson officiating. Friends may gather at 10:00 AM at the cemetery. Memorials: Unity Baptist Church, Vandalia, IL. Miller Funeral Home, Vandalia, IL, is in charge of arrangements. She was born July 11, 1935, in Shafter, IL, the daughter of James Byron & Rena L. (Blankenship) Hoover. She married Donald Clyde Walton on July 2, 1955, in Vandalia, IL. He passed away on January 13, 1998. She started her banking career at Farmers & Merchants Bank as a junior in Highschool. She started as a teller and worked her way up and was Executive Vise President when she retired after 45 years. She was a member of Unity Baptist Church and volunteered for various functions in the church.
She is survived by: Son – Larry Walton, Vandalia, IL; Daughter – Sharon Strobel & Rob, Vandalia, IL; Grandchildren – Kristen Bowling & Jake, Tiffany Stone & Nathan, Nicholas Strobel & Katy, Caleb Walton & Kourtney, and Benjamin Strobel & Makayla; and 9 Great Grandchildren that called her GiGi and filled her heart with great joy. Her family and grandchildren were her greatest blessings.
Preceded in death by: Parents; Husband; Brothers – Lester, Bob, Julius “Dude”, and John; Sisters – Rosalee, Evelyn, and Joyce.
