Altamont boys track and field captured the National Trail Conference Championship on Tuesday, topping second place St. Anthony by 42 points while CHBC finished third and Brownstown-St. Elmo came in seventh. The Indians were buoyed in the meet by four first place finishes from junior Ben Roedl who took the top spots in the high jump, long jump, triple jump and 110m High Hurdles. Senior Logan Duncan turned in a double first place individual performance taking first in the 100m and 200m Dashes and junior Hayden Summers took first in the 300m Hurdles. Sophomore Jacob Veteto took first in the pole vault, sophomore Brock Wendling took the top spot in the shot put and the Indians 4×100, 4×200 and 4×400 relay teams all came in first.
CHBC would not turn in any first place finishes, instead holding steady with top 5 finishes that would push them to third in the team standings. Second and third places finishes by sophomore Drake Richards in the 400m and 200m and third and fifth place finishes by freshman Clive Schlanser in the 100m and 200m in the sprints, second and third place finishes by freshman Remington Howell in the 300m and 110m hurdles events and third and fourth place finishes in the 3200m and the 1600m were key in the individual running events. In the field events, sophomore Gage Hart grabbed a second place finish in the shot put and fourth place in the discus while freshman Liam Collins finished fifth in the shot put and freshman Port Lilly came in third in the high jump. In the long jump, freshman Carter Dilley and freshman Hayden Sarver turned in forth and fifth places finishes.
BSE had one first place finish in the meet from junior Trenton Monnet in the discus would see just one other top 5 finish in the meet from sophomore Ryan Powell in the 800m run as he took fourth.
