A Vandalia woman was killed in a 2 vehicle accident on Saturday afternoon in Bond County.
The Illinois State Police Troop 8 reports the accident occurred at 4:30 pm on Saturday afternoon at mile post 41 on Interstate 70 eastbound in Bond County.
The report says that ISP Troop 8 responded to a 2 vehicle fatal accident. State Police reports say a vehicle driven by 49 year old Sarah Davis of Vandalia was traveling west on Interstate 70. State Police say, for unknown reasons, the Davis vehicle left the roadway to the left, crossed the grass median and entered I-70 eastbound. A truck-tractor semi-trailer driven by 36 year old Aaron Majors of Kansas City, Missouri was traveling east on I-70 and attempted to avoid the Davis vehicle which was traveling the wrong way towards him and he was unable to avoid the collision. The Davis vehicle struck the driver’s side of the Majors vehicle. 49 year old Sarah Davis was pronounced dead on the scene.
The Interstate was closed for better than 4 hours for the investigation of the accident. The crash is still under investigation and no other information is available at this time.
