
Area law enforcement arrested a rural Mulberry Grove man on Wednesday night, with a single shot fired in the incident.
The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office reports that at 7:51 pm on Wednesday night they received a 911 call in reference to a domestic related call involving a firearm at 1024 N 000 Street in rural Mulberry Grove. Along with the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, law enforcement from the Bond County Sheriff’s Office and Vandalia Police Department responded to the scene. The report says that upon arrival law enforcement attempted to make contact and negotiate with the male occupant of the house, identified as 70 year old Ronald D. Thielemann. At approximately 8:35 pm the report says a single rifle shot was fired in an unknown direction from the resident as Deputies and Officers were attempting to negotiate Thielemann out of the residence safely. At approximately 8:51 pm, the report indicates Thielemann exited the residence without further incident.
Thielemann was charged on Thursday in Fayette County with 4 Felony counts related to the incident. Thielemann was charged with Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm (Class X Felony), Aggravated Unlawful Restraint (Class 3 Felony), and 2 counts of Aggravated Assault/Discharge Firearm (Class 4 Felony). Thielemann is set to appear in Fayette County Court this morning.
In the report, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office says they are very thankful that neither Thielemann nor any of the responding deputies and officers were hurt during the incident. And, The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office also thanked the Vandalia Police Department, Bond County Sheriff’s Office and Rural Med EMS for their quick response and assistance.
