Steven K. Largent, 67, of Shafter, IL, passed away the morning of Saturday, June 10, 2023 at his home.
Per Steve’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. There will be a Celebration of Life held at a later date with Masonic Rites performed. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shriner’s Hospitals for Children. Online condolences can be expressed at www.hohltandfilefh.com
Steven Kent Largent was born on June 02, 1956 in Vandalia, IL, the son of Gerald Albert and Dorothy Bernadine (Stokes) Largent. He married the love of his life, Janet Lee Conner, on April 13, 1974. Together they celebrated 49 years of marriage and raised two children.
Steve was a lifelong farmer; having operated Largent Farms in Shafter, along with his father, brother, and son. He was also an electrician employed by Crane Packing, Vandalia for nearly 45 years; retiring in 2018. Steve enjoyed spending time on the farm, driving around in Shafter and Bear Grove, and of course, having a good time at the end of the day.
He was a member of AINAD Shriners, East St. Louis; Masonic East Lodge #504, Fairview Heights; Vandalia Shrine Club; Tin Lizzie Patrol; and Vandalia Moose Lodge #1447.
Mr. Largent is survived by his wife, Jan Largent of Shafter; daughter, Amy Reeter & Dave Troxell of Shobonier; son, Jake Largent & Makinzee Smith of Shafter; brother, Gerald Largent & wife Vicky of Shafter; grandchildren, Caitlyn & husband Eric Blankenship, Ethan Largent, and Conner Reeter; great-grandchildren, Kayden Blankenship and Gunner Blankenship; extended family & many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and infant brother, Jeffrey Trent Largent.
