Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City girls basketball picked up a 51-35 win over Flora on a day in which they celebrated their senior athletes. Prior to the game, Seniors Aja Gour, Gracie Heckert and Madison Wojcik and exchange students Angelina Bouton and Carmen Olesen were honored. Senior Gracie Heckert was also honored with a presentation of a special basketball in honor of her surpassing 1,500 career points during the National Trail Conference Tournament on January 21.
In the game, the Lady Bobcats would get out to a 14-10 lead in the first quarter, but used the middle two quarters to pull away. CHBC outscored Flora 13-9 in the second quarter for a 27-19 halftime lead and went on an 11-5 run in the third quarter for a 38-24 lead heading into the fourth quarter. The Bobcats would outscore Flora 13-11 in the fourth quarter to close out the 51-35 win to move to 16-10 on the season. Three Lady Bobcats would finish in double digit scoring in the game with Mady Wojcik getting a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds while Macee Rodman tallied 17 points and Gracie Heckert finished with 16 points. CHBC will have three games in the coming final week of the season. They will be at Macon Meridian on Monday, will host Brownstown-St. Elmo in their final regular season home game on Wednesday and then be at Ramsey on Thursday. The postseason will then begin on Saturday with CHBC hosting their quarterfinal Regional game against Martinsville with game time to be announced this week.
