Air Assault Volleyball Club’s 18s squad came back from a 1-2 start to go 3-0 in Gold Bracket play and win the championship of the 17/18 division of the Riverfront Rumble in Paducah, Kentucky over the weekend. AAVC opened pool play for the weekend suffering a 21-25, 9-25 loss to Viper 18 Elite before bouncing back with a 25-9, 25-15 win over Heights VBC to go 1-1 in pool play. AAVC then fell to WKVC 18 in three sets 18-25, 25-17, 9-15 in the pool crossover match round to finish Saturday at 1-2 before moving into Gold Bracket play on Sunday. In the bracket quarterfinals, AAVC would get a 25-12, 25-14 win over LB VBClub to advance on to the semifinals where AAVC would get a rematch with Viper 18 Elite. This time around, AAVC would get a three set win 25-23, 16-25, 15-13 to earn a spot in the championship match. Another rematch awaited them in the Championship with AAVC again avenging a Saturday loss as they would beat WKVC 18 in three sets 19-25, 25-18, 15-11 to claim the top spot and bring home the Riverfront Rumble title.
AAVC 18s title comes a week after they claimed a second place finish in the gold bracket of the RiverCity Showdown in Peoria.
