The South Central Lady Cougars suffered a heartbreaking loss, 43-42, to Windsor/Stew-Stras on Thursday night. South Central jumped on top early as Brooklyn Garrett would put up 11 points in the first quarter and lead the Cougars to a 15-9 lead by the end of the first quarter. The Cougars scoring would slow in the second quarter with both teams putting up eight points and South Central holding a 23-17 halftime lead. The Hatchets would begin to chip away at the Cougar lead in the third. Taegan Webster would hit for five points in the quarter but WSS would outscore South Central 12-10 to cut the lead to 33-29. WSS would continue their comeback in the fourth quarter as the Cougars were again outscored 14-9 as the Hatchets would squeak by to beat the Cougars, 43-42. South Central is now 9-11 on the season and drops to 0-6 in National Trail Conference play. The Cougars will get another shot at the Hatchets in just four days as the two teams will meet in the first game of the National Trail Conference Tournament on Monday at 10:00am.
