A bill allowing a person who must register with a state agency due to a criminal conviction to change their name has advanced out of committee. The measure amends several state statutes preventing Illinoisans from changing their names due to their inclusion on watchlists. State Senator Terri Bryant says once again, victims of crime are getting lost in the shuffle.
