(New York, NY) — Number 17 Illinois rallied from a double-digit second-half deficit to force overtime and defeat second-ranked Texas at Madison Square Garden last night. Matthew Mayer scored a season-high 21 points, including five 3-pointers, for the Illini. Illinois improved to 7-and-2. Coach Brad Underwood talks about the Illini gutting out a tough 16 to 2 stretch to force the game to OT.
The Illini return to State Farm Center Saturday for their Big Ten home opener against Penn State.
