A Vandalia Alderman is questioning the current change by the local cable company and the cost increase.
During Monday’s Vandalia City Council Meeting, Alderman Kenny Lewey pointed out that Sparklight is changing from a traditional cable set up to a streaming or connected TV set up going forward. Lewey says he has some concerns how the older population will handle such a change. And, he also questions the cost increase that is associated with such a change.
Alderman Bret Brosman said he was told there was some sort of mandate associated with the change. Sparklight does have a Franchise agreement with the City of Vandalia which gives them the right to operate cable in the community. Mayor Rick Gottman suggested having a representative of the company come in to speak to the City Council on the change.
