The Vandals will play for a Regional Championship at home today as they will take on the Salem Wildcats.
The Vandals advanced when they knocked off the sub-sectional’s #1 seed in Paris on Friday, 9 to 0, behind a 2 hit shutout by Jaydon Lotz. Salem pulled off an upset of their own, rallying to beat T-Town in the second game on Friday.
The Vandals have never won a Regional Championship in baseball. In recent years, the Vandals have reached the Regional Championship in 2003 (losing to South Central) and 2017 (losing to T-Town) both years in which the Vandals won the South Central Conference title.
Today’s game will at Vandalia Mutual Field at 3 pm, with the winner moving onto the T-Town sectional semi-final on Wednesday at 4 pm to take on the winner of the Alton Marquette Regional, which will be played today between Columbia and Althoff. The Vandals are 16-14 on the season.
