* WHAT...Moderate flooding is occurring and major flooding is
forecast.
* WHERE...Kaskaskia River at Vandalia.
* WHEN...Until early Tuesday morning.
* IMPACTS...At 26.0 feet, The Dively and Vandalia Levees begin to be
overtopped.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 11:30 AM CDT Friday the stage was 26.0 feet and rising.
- Recent Activity...The river began a sharp rise Wednesday
evening, first reaching flood stage at 1:30 AM on Thursday.
Moderate flooding began when the river reached 24 feet at
12:30 AM Friday morning, and major flooding has now begun at
26 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest near 26.1
feet this evening. It will then begin to fall this evening,
falling below flood stage Sunday evening.
- Flood stage is 18.0 feet.
