Brownstown-St. Elmo kicked off their track season with competition in the Gene Armer Invitational at the University of Illinois Armory on Saturday. The girls team would earn two medal finishes and tally 13 points as a team for 17th place out of 32 teams.
Junior High Jumper Addie McWhorter got off to strong start to the season with a second place finish of 1.52m (4’ 11.75”) behind just Brianna Dixon of 2A school Rantoul who jumped 1.57m (5’ 1.75”). McWhorter’s final height puts her in a multiple way tie for the 6th best performance on the Illinois Top Times Class 1A Leaderboard and has her in good position to qualify for the Top Times Championship Indoor Meet this Friday.
The girls 4×800 team of Jaydin Huddleston, Cordelia Lytle, Kyleigh Ward and Katie Berner earned a 4th place finish running a time of 11:21.87, the 18th best 4×800 time in Class 1A for the current indoor season.
