IHSA released the official seeds for the upcoming girls basketball postseason on Thursday afternoon.
In Class 1A, all four of I70Sports coverage area’s 1A teams are assigned to Sub-Sectional B of the Tuscola Sectional with Altamont and Cumberland serving as the two Regional hosts for the Sub-Sectional. The one seeding position that could be considered a surprise is Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City at 22-4 coming out as the 3rd seed. Neoga at 21-6 is the top seed followed by St. Anthony (18-9) at #2 and then Altamont (13-13) as the fourth seed. CHBC had rough five day stretch where they lost to St. Anthony and Altamont at the NTC Tournament and then followed that with a loss to Neoga in their first game following the tournament. However, CHBC beat both Altamont and St. Anthony in their regular season meetings. Cumberland (18-9) came in as the #5 seed, Dieterich (17-11) is the 6th seed, South Central (12-13) is the #7 seed followed by North Clay (9-16) at #8 and Brownstown-St. Elmo (12-16) comes in at #9. The 10-13 seeds are Windsor/Stew-Stras (10-17), Casey-Westfield (3-24), Ramsey (0-16) and Martinsville (0-19).
In Class 2A, Vandalia and Greenville landed in separate Sectional complexes. Vandalia is in Sub-Sectional B of the Monticello Sectional complex while Greenville is assigned to Sub-Sectional B of the Nashville Sectional complex. Vandalia at 8-19 is the #10 seed and will go to either Marshall or Salem for Regional Play. T-Town (17-7) earned the top seed for the Sub-Sectional followed by Fairfield (23-3) at #2, Marshall (20-6) at #3 and Robinson (16-5) at #4. Greenville (11-18) has earned the #7 seed and will go to either Freeburg or Breese Central for Regionals. Freeburg (25-3) earned the top seed while Breese Central (16-8) comes in at #2 followed by Nashville (17-8) at #3 and Breese Mater Dei (15-12) is the fourth seed.
