Howard Wesley White, 91, of Vandalia passed away on December 17, 2021 at SBL Fayette County Hospital.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00am, Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at Northside Christian Church, Vandalia with Pastor Dennis Warner officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Cemetery, Vandalia. Visitation will be held from 9:00-11:00am prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made to Fayette County Hospital LTC Activity Fund or Northside Christian Church. Howard W. White was born January 21, 1930 in Spokane, WA, the son of John and Cora (Klitzke) White. He married Mary Catherine Carson on April 18, 1976; together they shared 45 years of marriage.
Dr. White as many knew him, practiced dentistry in Vandalia for nearly 30 years before he retired in 1990. Prior to dental school Howard served in the US Army. He was a member of Northside Christian Church, Vandalia American Legion Post #95, Vandalia Rotary Club #6490, and served on the Evans Public Library Board. He loved sailing and flying, having earned his own pilot license; Howard also loved using and communicating over his Ham radio.
He is survived by his wife, Mary White of Vandalia; sisters-in-law, Ruth Brackenbush and Vivian and husband Allen Schmid all of Vandalia; nieces and nephews, Janet Zehnacker, David Brackenbush, Mark Schmid, Glory Campbell, and John Brackenbush.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother.
