Carroll E. “Butch” Berry, 76, of Vandalia, IL passed away at 9:25 PM, Thursday, December 16, 2021 at SBL Fayette County Hospital.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, December 23, 2021 at Hohlt & File Funeral Home, Vandalia with Rev. Doug Wodtka officiating. Interment will follow at Griffith Cemetery, Brownstown. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services from10:00-11:00 AM, at the funeral home.

Mr. Berry was born on December 11, 1945 in Centralia, IL, the son of Pearl and Helen (Brown) Berry. He married Beverly Chandler on July 21, 1964; together they celebrated 57 years of marriage and raised three children.
Butch owned and operated Carroll Berry Construction for 30 years, and eventually Mt. Auburn Monument Co. He was quite the craftsman; even after his retirement from construction and monuments he began painting figurines. Carroll was a member of the AINAD Shriners, Patoka Masonic Lodge #613 A.F & A.M., the Old National Trail Shrine Club, and the Tin Lizzie Patrol.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly Berry of Vandalia; daughter, Christi and husband Tim Wollin of North Carolina; sons, John Berry of Maryland and Clint Berry of Vandalia; sisters-in-law, Marsha and husband Doug Wodtka of Vandalia and Barbara “Jo” Lanman of Charleston; and special cousins, Ronnie Davison and wife Bea of Mulberry Grove and Joyce Nelson of Tennessee.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
