The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office and St. Elmo Police Department dealt with an incident near the St. Elmo Grade School on Wednesday afternoon. In a release from the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, it says that on Wednesday at about 2:20 pm the St. Elmo Police Department and Fayette County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched for a male subject that had left a private residence possibly armed with a knife in the area of the St. Elmo Grade School. As a precaution, the Sheriff’s Office requested the St. Elmo Grade School be locked down until the situation could be investigated. And, The St. Elmo Police and Fayette County Deputies were able to locate the male subject shortly after being dispatched and the school was able to reopen without any problems.
The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office also added a Thank You to the St. Elmo Grade School and their cooperation during the incident. The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office adds that at no time was anyone in any imminent danger.
