The Illinois State Police are investigating a death and suspected home invasion in Clay County.
The Illinois State Police Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 8 was requested by the Clay County Sheriff’s Office to assist with a death investigation and suspected home invasion. State Police reports say 80 year old Roger Courson was found dead in his home near Edgewood by a family member on Sunday at about 11 am.
State Police say it was determined a safe, which contained multiple firearms, and a television were taken from the Courson residence. State Police reports say the investigation is being led by the ISP DCI Zone 8 and is still open and ongoing. They add that the cause and manner of death are pending and no further information will be released at this time. They do add that anyone with information is asked to contact ISP Division of Criminal Investigation in Effingham at 217-342-7861.
