(Chicago, IL) — A U.S. Army veteran and registered nurse is running for governor of Illinois. Beverly Miles announced yesterday her Democratic primary bid against Governor J.B. Pritzker. The Chicago activist wants to become the first Black woman to hold Illinois’ highest office. Miles works at Edward Hines Jr. VA Hospital in the western suburbs after serving 15 years at various Army bases prepping soldiers for deployment. Pritzker has yet to formally announce he is running for re-election next year.
