(Chicago, IL) — House Speaker Mike Madigan’s ally Mike McClain is pleading not guilty in a federal bribery case. McClain entered the plea yesterday morning during a virtual hearing. Former ComEd CEO Anne Pramaggiore, ex-ComEd executive John Hooker, and lobbyist Jay Doherty also pleaded not guilty in the same case. The four were charged last month with bribery conspiracy, bribery, and willfully falsifying ComEd and Exelon books, records, and accounts. Each was named in a deferred prosecution agreement entered into by ComEd officials in July. The agreement detailed a bribery scheme between the utility company and Illinois statehouse between 2011 and 2019. Former ComEd executive Fidel Marquex previously pleaded guilty in the case that implicates Madigan, who has not been charged.
