We now have a chance of scattered thunderstorms around the area this afternoon. The National Weather Service in St. Louis says scattered thunderstorms are expected across portions of central and eastern Missouri into southwest Illinois this afternoon. In addition to lightning, you can expect gusty winds, and heavy downpours with the stronger storms. While widespread severe weather is not expected, isolated severe storms capable of damaging winds are possible.
