
A Vandalia man has been charged in Fayette County Court with predatory criminal sexual assault. 62-year old Lambert J. Roedl is charged with one count of predatory criminal sexual assault of a victim under the age of 13 as information states that Roedl is alleged to have “committed an act of sexual penetration” with the victim who is under the age of 13. The count is a Class X felony punishable by 6 to 30 years in prison. Roedl appeared in front of Judge Kimberly Koester on Wednesday and was admonished on the count he is charged with and probable cause was found to detain. After arguments on bail by public defender William Starnes and Assistant States Attorney David Sternau, bond for Roedl was set at $500,000 with the condition that Roedl have no contact with anyone under the age of 17. Roedl was appointed Starnes as his public defender and his first appearance with counsel will be September 15 at 11am.
