We hear again today from Courtney Sapp with the Fayette County Health Department as we talk more about the coronavirus outbreak. Sapp talks about what someone needs to do if they think they may have the virus.
The symptoms of COVID-19 are cough, fever and shortness of breath. As for what others should do that have been in contact with someone that has the virus, Sapp says if someone is diagnosed, close contacts will also need to be evaluated and possibly isolated. Contacts need to also watch for symptoms. Sapp says the Illinois Department of Public Health and local health departments will help with care of those close contacts. She also reminds that surfaces need to be cleaned and disinfected and the person diagnosed with coronavirus will be put on home isolation unless they would require hospitalization.
