
Representatives of U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development from the state and federal level were on hand for a presentation to the City of Vandalia on Wednesday morning. USDA Rural Development State Director Douglas Wilson says he is proud of the package they have been able to put together for the City of Vandalia’s Water Treatment Plant project. The project will cost about $21 million and the city is receiving $4.1 million in grant money and receiving a low interest loan of $14 million from the USDA.
Also on hand for the presentation was Scott Barringer who is the Deputy Assistant Administrator of USDA Rural Development. Barringer said with the age of the city’s water plant, he is proud to see Vandalia being proactive with the project for a new plant.
Also on hand for the presentation were Vandalia Mayor Rick Gottman, City Administrator LaTisha Paslay, Engineer Lee Beckman, Public Works Director Marlin Filer as well as members of the USDA Rural Development’s state office and other City of Vandalia employees.
