Governor J.B. Pritzker says his office is investigating a reported college student aid scam. A report from Propublica Illinois found that some wealthy parents are transferring guardianship of their children to other people, in hopes the student will qualify for assistance. That includes college MAP grants which are awarded to lower income students says Governor Pritzker.
To the parents trying to defraud the system, Governor Pritzker says “shame on them.”
