The Vandalia Statehouse will kick off three weeks of story time at the historic site this weekend with two days of travel through history. Story time this weekend will focus on the travels of Lewis and Clark. On Friday from 10:30-11:30am, kids will hear about the travels of Lewis and Clark with a story through the eye of a Newfoundland dog. On Saturday from 10:30-11:30am, kids will learn about Sacajawea and the role she played in Lewis and Clark’s travels west. During both days, refreshments will be served.
Storytime at the Statehouse will continue on Friday, July 26 with the focus being on the Cahokia Mounds and on Friday, August 2nd when the story time will revolve around Abraham Lincoln and the Vandalia Statehouse itself.
