(Boston, MA) — The Blues are Stanley Cup champions for the first time in franchise history. St. Louis captured the title by beating the Bruins 4-1 in Game Seven of the Stanley Cup Final in Boston. Alex Pietrangelo and Ryan O’Reilly each had a goal and an assist and Brayden Schenn and Zach Sanford also scored for the Blues. Jordan Binnington made 32 saves for St. Louis, which had been 0-and-3 all-time in the Stanley Cup Final. Head Coach Craig Berube says it was a great turnaround for the team after a very rough start to the season.
(Boston, MA) — Blues center Ryan O’Reilly is the Conn Smythe Trophy winner. It’s awarded to the Most Valuable Player of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. O’Reilly won after helping St. Louis defeat the Boston Bruins 4-1 in Game 7 of the Cup Final for the Blues first ever championship. O’Reilly scored the first goal of Game Seven and also had an assist. O’Reilly says this is a moment you wait for a long time.
He finished the postseason with 23 total points, the most by any Blues player in postseason history.
