Business groups are seeking changes to a minimum wage proposal that passed the Senate. But, Governor Pritzker is urging the House to pass it as is. The current bill raises the minimum wage over 6 years until it hits 15 dollars an hour. Governor Pritzker says it’s the product of many talks.
Many employers want to see a longer phase-in period for raising the minimum wage and say the wage should be set based on the cost of living by region. But, Governor Prtizker says the current proposal has already been hashed out.
The Illinois House is expected to vote on the bill sometime this week.
