In what has become like a broken record over the last several years, the Vandalia School District is dealing with certain state funding not being received from the state. During Tuesday night’s financial reports portion of the Vandalia School Board meeting, Superintendent Dr. Jennifer Garrison relayed that the district is currently missing just under $341,000 dollars in categorical funding as they have not received first or second quarter categorical payments from the state at this point. And Garrison says the majority of those funds are transportation funds.
Garrison says they have been able to cover the necessary transportation expenses with local funds.
In other financial news, Nick Casey, Director of the Okaw Area Vocational Center reported that they had received two CTE, or Career and Technical Education, payments totaling $118,580. The CTE funds are made up of grant money that runs the Okaw Center and at times, there have been issues with receiving those funds very late in the school year among other issues.
