The Illinois State Police is increasing patrols and urging the public to get ready for busy holiday travel. Sergeant Jacqueline Cepeda says with so many celebrations and lots of people on the road, motorists need to be extra careful this time of year.
State and local police will be boosting manpower during the holidays and focusing on the top offenses including drunk driving, speeding, not wearing a seat belt and texting while driving.
