David “Tubby” Goodin, 74, of Shobonier passed away Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Fayette County Hospital in Vandalia. He was born on September 22, 1944 the son of Lenord and Mary (Logue) Goodin in Patoka. He married Dona Pinon on June 1, 2001 in Vandalia.
Survivors include his beloved wife Dona Goodin of Shobonier; devoted children, Lisa Goodin of Patoka, Margie Daniels and husband Mike of Vandalia, DeAnn Martin and fianc� Wayne Whalen of Martinsville, and Emma Soto of Chatham; 15 precious grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; caring siblings, Merle Goodin and wife Dorris of Peoria, Maxine Sturgeon of Patoka, Nancy Dickmon and husband Gary of MO.
Mr. Goodin was preceded in death by both his parents, Lenord and Mary Goodin; sisters, Irene Hoppe, Marcella Heather, Geneva Hicks; brothers, Johnny Goodin, Jimmy Goodin, Estel Goodin.
Tubby was a member of the Ramsey Saddle Club where he shared his passion for horses. He was also a member of the American Paint Horse, American Quarter Horse, Belgin Horse, Persian Horse, and the American Brabant Horse Associations. He raised many different breeds of horses, preparing them for rodeos and horse logging. Tubby enjoyed hunting and watching the dogs work while tracking raccoons. His family will remember his hard-working spirit and his love for each member of his family.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, December 13, 2018 at the Day Macz Funeral Home in Patoka with Pastor Bruce Sasse officiating. Per Tubby’s wishes it was requested that family and friends come wearing casual, country attire. Interment will be at Pratt Cemetery in Patoka. Family and friends are invited to a visitation time from 4 to 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 12, 2018 and one hour prior to the service time on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at the funeral home in Patoka. Memorials may be made to the Family’s Wishes and will be accepted at the funeral home.
