A Colorado man was injured in a one vehicle accident in western Fayette County early Sunday morning. Illinois State Police reports say that a 2017 GMC box truck, pulling a 2007 Toyota passenger car and operated by 28 year old Mark P. Mullen of Aurora, Colorado, was eastbound on U.S. Route 40 in western Fayette County and went off the roadway to the right. The vehicle then traveled 559 feet and struck a tree head on. State Police say the driver was entrapped inside of the box truck having to be extricated by the Mulberry Grove and Vandalia Fire Departments. Mullen was then transported by Air Evac Life Team to Barnes Hospital in St. Louis. The accident occurred at 12:29 am on Sunday morning.
